Come Celebrate Venetian Night on Saturday, July 25th!

Venetian Night is the longest running event produced by the City of Chicago.  This year’s theme, “Hollywood on the Lake” will be brought to life as boats decorated with lights and props will sail along beautiful Lake Michigan, between the Shedd Aquarium at Roosevelt Road and the Chicago Yacht Club at Monroe Street. 
 
The Boat Parade begins at 8:15pm with fireworks to follow, but spectators will begin arriving as early at 9:00am in order to secure a good view of the event.  Admission is free and spectators are encouraged to take public transportation, walk or bike to this event.  There will be heavy traffic in Grant Park near the lakefront and some street closures may occur as needed.  For more information, please visit the Mayor’s Office of Special Events website.

Below are some helpful hints on what to keep in mind when you are ready to sell your home.

1.)  Choose a knowledgeable Broker to help you
You want a broker who is familiar with the area and has the most up-to-date marketing strategies to help sell your home.

2.)  Market your home at the right price
You should talk with a real estate agent so they can help you figure out what your home is worth.

3.)  Make a good first impression
When a potential buyer walks into your home make sure the entryway is inviting.  Some things you can do are lighten up that space or have a small table with flowers, ect.

4.)  Make sure the inside of your home is well lit
Everyone wants to live in a cozy home with good light.  A few things you can do are remove any heavy drapes, purchase brighter light bulbs and make sure all the windows are clean.

5.)  De-clutter closets
Every buyer is looking for a place with great storage.  Remove about half of the items in your closets and organize everything.

6.)  Make simple inexpensive changes when selling your home
It almost always pays off when sellers make quick improvements to their home before selling.  Adding a new coat of paint is an easy and inexpensive way to have a fresh new look.  Another idea is to buy new cabinet hardware for your kitchen.  You definitely want to make sure to fix anything that might be broken or missing and make sure everything is clean.

7.)  De-clutter your home and make it very neutral
Pack up a lot of your stuff and put it in storage.  It is easier for buyers to picture themselves living in the home if all your personal items and clutter is put away.

8.)  Keep up on the cleaning
You do not want to scramble at the last minute if a potential buyer wants to stop by and see your home.  Keep everything organized and clean.
