One of the many wonderful things about living in Chicago is the fact that it is truly a city of neighborhoods, each with its unique personality and quirks. In fact, this makes the city wonderful to explore as well as allowing you to determine which neighborhood is truly the best one for you (and your family, as the case may be). Here are some of our favorite Chicago neighborhoods and why you should consider investing in real estate in each of them:

Lakeshore East - Of course, we're going to start with our real estate agency's home neighborhood of Lakeshore East, a true urban oasis featuring some of the city's most remarkable skyscrapers as well as townhomes that live like single family homes, a gorgeous park, a high grocery store, a world class school, and a central location between Lake Michigan and the Loop.

Gold Coast - Considered one of Chicago's most prestigious neighborhoods, this area is home to classic brownstones and greystones, luxury condos (both elegantly restored vintage and ultra contemporary), and high end shops and restaurants.

Streeterville - Situated just east of Michigan Avenue, this collection of luxury condos with plenty of amenities next to the Lake is perfect for individuals or couples who enjoy the finer things in life.

Lincoln Park - The ideal neighborhood for a family (or those who are thinking about starting one, there are plenty of mid rise condo buildings, townhomes, two or three flats, and sprawling single family homes with backyards, balconies/decks, and more. Plus there are excellent schools and the park itself!

River North - This is Chicago's primary arts district, with plenty of galleries along with the Merchandise Mart, and some of the city's most popular restaurants and nightspots.

Bucktown - Another neighborhood that's ideal for families, the brownstones and greystones in this neighborhood contrast with modern lofts, while casual eateries contrast with fine dining.

Wicker Park - While this area has been a hipster enclave for years now, it is quickly gentrifying into more of a family neighborhood but has retained some of its bohemian charm. Whether you prefer classic architecture or more contemporary homes, there is something for everyone. Plus there are plenty of boutiques, galleries, and restaurants serving all kinds of cuisines.

South Loop - The area just south of the loop is mostly home to luxury condos situated in full amenity buildings, which offer excellent views of the Loop, the Lake, Soldier Field, and more.

Chinatown - You don't have to be Chinese to enjoy the unique charms of Chinatown; with new construction happening every day and a historic past (it is the second oldest Chinatown in the United States), it is worth checking out, especially if you are interested in living somewhere with a truly special personality and tradition.

West Town - Sometimes referred to as River West or the West Loop, this area just west and slightly north of the Loop is home to Chicago's booming tech industry along with lots of modern lofts, new construction, and some spacious single family homes.

Lakeview - Situated around Wrigley Field, this is a charming area with high rise condos to the east and low rise three and four flats alongside single family homes to the west. Characterized by excellent schools, unique family restaurants, and a love of the Chicago Cubs, Lakeview/Wrigleyville make excellent homes for families and single people alike.
